Hugh introduced our speaker who happens to a Rotarian, Zoot Velasco!!
Zoot gave a great presentation on the founder of Rotary PAUL HARRIS
A few facts.
Born in 1868
Son of con, swindler, carpet bagger
Took the “5year plan” after college
Worked in theater
Worked in journalism
Once worked driving cattle to Chicago
Opened Law Firm in Chicago
Missed the community feeling of Vermont where he was raised by grandparents
Created Rotary to emulate the community feeling in a big city
