Members in attendance: Ron, Glenn, Kathi, Roy, Ward, Craig, Jim, Nate, Turgut, Hugh, Andrea, Lisa, Michelle, Alice And Kevin. There were two guests: Aaron Mclennan and Teri Niebuhr (former member).
Ward led us in the pledge, Ron led us in the 4 way-test and provided the inspirational moment. Jim introduced Aaron to the club members.
Kathi shared the update on the chamber: zoom meeting Friday, October 23, featuring Michael beaver from the America Legion post, business success series on October 28, restaurant week, November 2-8, electronic waste recycling event, November 7 & 8 from 9-3 @ the Placentia Town Center, Chamber Business Alliance November 10, 6-8 pm @ the Yorba Linda Country Club $20.00, ribbon cutting/grand opening Tacosway 1390 n. Kraemer blvd. Friday, October 23 from 7-9 pm.
Ward provided an update on the city: Bastanchury is experiencing a replacement of the asphalt from the West to the East. To date $6 million has been spent on roadwork rehab in the city.
Drive-in movies have been very successful & another is planned for November-December. Upcoming, there will be car shows in the early evening on Monday, in the parking lot, utilized by the farmer’s. Market on Tuesdays.
Ward will be out of town for the meeting on Wednesday, October 28 & Turgut offered to fill in for him, in case he is unable to make contact with us.
Fine master, Craig Hall: Alex has an anniversary & would be fined, if he were here! All attending were fined $1 for not knowing what Rotary Youth Exchange students have said about their experience, “it was the best time of their lives”. Ron had $1 hb for being alive, Hugh had $5 hb the kids are gone!, Ward had $10 hb for golfing with Mychael, Kevin, Jim for no limits. Roy had $10 hb for the same, as did Jim $10 hb, and Kevin $10 hb. Lisa had $10 hb for the success of the Breat Cancer Awareness fundraiser, the girls league from Diamond Bar High School is sponsoring-they have raised $1830, so far. Craig had $5 hb for the successful filming of the first 5 episodes on his new show, he will be filming 5 additional episodes in the next 4 weeks. We could be his audience! Roy had $5 hb for the continued work in his backyard. Our guest, Aaron had $5 hb for an upcoming trip to Cincinnati & Tennessee with his wife.
Andrea Mosqueda was our speaker this week on polio plus. This Saturday, the 24 is World Polio Day & is celebrated on the anniversary of Jonas Salk’s birthday. 6 am Saturday, watch the world polio day 2020 global update on Youtube. Great job, Andrea! She will be posting the Powerpoint presentation on Facebook along with the link.
Turgut reported Steve Brown and family are doing well. Lisa asked how Elizabeth and Fred are doing. Fred & Elizabeth had planned to attend the Tuesday night social on October 13, but since the meeting was inside instead of on the patio, they were unable to stay.
Next week’s meeting is a club assembly.
