Dist. Conference coming May 14 $65 to attend. NOT HAVING RECEPTION THIS YEAR OR DINNER OR AWARDS but it is something……. At the Community Center in Irvine… Packaging food for 20000 people.

DECOMMISSIONING OF SAN ONOFRE NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION (SONGS)
Principles (SAFETY STEWARDSHIP ENGAGEMENT)
3 reactors on site. Ran until 2012 retired in 2013
Store spent fuel on site for 50 years
Have 60 years to fully decommission
Decontaminate the Site and remove all above ground structure
Land leased from Navy and will return to Navy
Currently no place to send fuel
Several buildings removed already (1billiuon pounds of material to remove)
Now removing Turbine Buildings (10,000’s of titanium tubes) Should be done mid next year
Domes will be down by 2027
SPENT FUEL MANAGEMENT
Will be on site until new facility is found
2 systems for storage, passive systems.
Stored underground 6’ of concrete over top
Stored in small pellets. 2000-degree melting point
Pellets in canisters of 5/8” steel. Service life of 1000 years

Relocate spent fuel
