🌿 This week’s Rotary meeting took us on a journey through one of Orange County’s hidden gems!

We were delighted to welcome Danielle Zacherl from the CSUF Arboretum & Botanical Garden, @arboretumatcsuf who shared the Arboretum’s mission of conservation, education, and community engagement. From its diverse plant collections and beautiful landscapes to its important work protecting native and endangered species, we learned why the Arboretum is such a special resource for our region.

If you haven’t visited yet, now is the perfect time! 🌅 The Arboretum is hosting its Evening Strolls this summer, featuring:
🎷 Live jazz music
🍓 Complimentary beverages, sweets & fruit tastings
🌳 Peaceful after-hours access to the gardens

🎉 The 2026–2027 Rotary year is officially underway! 💙💛

We officially kicked off the new Rotary year under the leadership of our new Club President, Alex Muolo, and it was a productive morning!

Members selected board and committee positions, event chairs, and began planning the projects and events that will make an impact in our community throughout the year. We also celebrated Mychal Redman, who was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow for his dedication and service to our club.

We’re excited for what’s ahead and look forward to another year of fellowship, service, and creating lasting impact.

🎉 Last night, the Rotary Club of Placentia celebrated leadership, service, and friendship at our annual Demotion & Installation Dinner!

We thanked President Ward Smith for an incredible year and officially welcomed President Alex Muolo as our new club president.

The evening included the presentation of several Paul Harris Fellow Awards, recognizing outstanding generosity and dedication to Service Above Self. It was especially meaningful to see multiple generations represented among this year’s recipients—a reminder that the spirit of Rotary continues to inspire people of all ages.

And of course, we couldn’t let our new president leave without officially receiving his “El Presidente” name badge. 😄

Congratulations to all of our award recipients, and here’s to another great year of service!

🍔💙 Serving our community, one meal at a time.

Today, members of the Rotary Club of Placentia were proud to partner with the City of Placentia Community Services Department @placentiacommunityservices to help host the Father’s Day Senior Luncheon. Our club purchased the food, helped prepare and serve lunch, and enjoyed spending time with our local seniors over a few friendly games of bingo.

At Rotary, we believe service is about building relationships, creating smiles, and making a positive impact—one project at a time.

Sometimes the best service isn’t just the meal—it’s the time spent together. 💙💛

Today we celebrated Ward Smith’s final meeting as President of the Rotary Club of Placentia.

Throughout the past year, Ward has led our club with dedication, humility, and an unwavering commitment to Service Above Self. His leadership has strengthened our club, supported countless community projects, and inspired our members to continue making a difference both locally and around the world.

As a fitting way to conclude his presidency, Ward was recognized as a Rotary Foundation Major Donor—an extraordinary honor that reflects his remarkable generosity and lasting commitment to Rotary’s mission. The recognition was presented by Placentia Rotary Foundation President Jim Paddock, honoring Ward’s significant support of The Rotary Foundation and its work to promote peace, fight disease, provide clean water, support education, protect the environment, and strengthen communities around the world.

🎓 Congratulations to the 2026 Rotary Club of Placentia Scholarship Recipients!

Last week, students across our community celebrated an important milestone as they graduated from high school. The Rotary Club of Placentia is proud to recognize and support these outstanding students as they take the next step toward their futures.

Whether pursuing a college degree, vocational training, apprenticeship, certification program, or another career pathway, these scholarship recipients have demonstrated exceptional leadership, dedication, and commitment to their goals.

We are honored to invest in the next generation of leaders, skilled professionals, and community members who will help shape a brighter future for all.

💜 Brain Health Matters 💜

Today, the Rotary Club of Placentia welcomed Natalie from the Alzheimer’s Association @alzassociation for an informative presentation on Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, brain health, and the resources available to individuals and families affected by cognitive decline.

Natalie shared valuable information about the different types of dementia, risk reduction strategies, and the importance of healthy lifestyle habits such as physical activity, nutrition, quality sleep, cognitive engagement, and regular health monitoring.

Thank you, Natalie, and the Alzheimer’s Association for the important work you do to educate, support, and advocate for those impacted by Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.

🎉 Last Thursday, the Rotary Club of Placentia joined the Brea Rotary Club and the forming Brea Evening Rotary Club for a fantastic evening of fellowship, networking, and community connection at our “Curious About Rotary?” social.

Guests had the opportunity to meet Rotarians, learn about the impact Rotary has in our local communities and around the world, and discover ways to get involved through service.

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the evening such a success. We’re excited to continue building momentum as we work toward launching the Brea Evening Rotary Club and expanding opportunities for service throughout our communities.

This morning, our club had the pleasure of hearing from Joanna Byrne of @joanna_mobile_dental_hygiene 🦷💙

Joanna shared the importance of providing compassionate, accessible dental care for homebound patients, seniors, assisted living residents, nursing home residents, and individuals with disabilities.

Her presentation highlighted not only the importance of preventative oral healthcare, but also the meaningful human connection and dignity that compassionate care can provide.

The Rotary Club of Placentia was proud to be part of the 10th Annual Love Placentia @love_placentia City-Wide Volunteer Day! From cooking sausages for the morning breakfast to firing up the grill again for afternoon hot dogs, our members kept the energy going all day long.

We also supported two incredible projects—assembling hygiene care kits and helping with landscaping efforts—making a hands-on impact across our community.

Today, we had the honor of celebrating the life of our fellow Rotarian, Al Shkoler 🤍

It was a beautiful and heartfelt gathering, filled with meaningful stories, laughter, and reflection. The speakers did an incredible job sharing memories of Al and the lasting impact he made on so many lives.

We are especially grateful to Al’s family for allowing us to be part of such a special tribute. It was truly a celebration of a life well lived and a legacy of Service Above Self that will continue to inspire our community.

The Rotary Club of Placentia was proud to induct our newest member last week, sponsored by Rotarian Shey Rodriguez.

A Placentia resident of more than 20 years, Brandon is a mortgage broker who has spent the last two decades helping families achieve the dream of homeownership. He and his wife Kristen are raising their three children here and love being part of the community.

Brandon also stays involved locally as a Placentia Chamber Ambassador and member of Yorba Linda Toastmasters.
