Dental Clinic

Proper dental care is critical in helping people live a life of dignity. The Rotary Club of Placentia once a year sponsors a dental clinic which provides an invaluable service to underserved children and parents in Placentia.

The purpose of the dental clinic for children is to provide dental health care services for elementary school age children residing in Placentia who do not have any form of dental insurance and who are unable to afford dental services. Services provided include x-rays, dental cleanings and basic procedures such as fillings. The goal is to provide dental service to the children of low income families, and to provide information concerning the importance of good dental hygiene. This year we served over 100 local children and parents.

Many of the Rotary Club of Placentia members were at Melrose Elementary School from set-up to tear-down, helping where ever they could. It was exciting to watch as the families entered the school auditorium, with anxious anticipation for their visit with the dentist. For some family members, this was a first. The children were treated to small gifts and a "hands on" tooth brushing demonstration. Their smiles were bright as they exited the building following a positive experience.
We hope to be able to offer this Dental Clinic again in 2018.
